A Pair Of 18th-century-style Bisque Porcelain Figurines
A pair of characters based on LERICHE, well known in the 18th century: this is Janot, a somewhat simple-minded character from satirical comedies by Dorvigny written during the reign of Louis XVI. Accompanied by another actress—likely a maid who is handing him a note (a letter)—Janot holds a lantern in one hand and scratches himself with the other.
In the style of the late 18th century, the originals were crafted by Leriche from Sèvres porcelain. One example is housed at the Museum of the French Revolution.
The pieces presented here are in perfect condition, are signed, and date from the early 20th century or the late 19th century. Height: 33 and 30 cm.
