A Beautiful Solid Silver Milk Jug In The Napoleon III Style, Monogrammed With The Initials Ld Or Dl.
This charming 19th-century solid silver milk jug is in perfect condition. The base of the piece features remarkable, finely chiseled guilloché work. The bulbous body is adorned on both sides with a cartouche bearing the intertwined initials L and D.
The curved handle is attached to the body by leaf-shaped clasps. The arched feet, shaped like deer hooves, are topped with leaf-shaped clasps featuring palmette motifs. All of these features combine to make this a very refined milk jug.
A first-class Minerva hallmark is present on the neck, and the base bears the mark of the Parisian silversmith François Nicoud.
