Romantic School (c. 1880) - Hortus Paradisi

- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Signed with initials.

- This painting forms a pair with the work “Romantic School (c. 1880) – Hortus Fantasticus.”

- A worthy heir to the masterful river perspectives through which Jan Brueghel the Elder structured the harmony of the world, this exuberant Romantic landscape unfolds like a sanctuary of majestic serenity and dazzling natural symmetry. Set within a dense, wooded green setting, bathed in the twilight reflections of a sky tinged with soft pink hues, the verdant and serene waters of the pond welcome, with a crystalline murmur, the flow of artificial waterfalls, thus creating a scene imbued with lyrical contemplation. At the heart of this bucolic idyll, a pair of immaculately white swans glide across the mirror-like water, embodying timeless elegance and the perfect harmony between the art of gardening and the contemplative spirit of nature.

- Dimensions of the artwork without frame: 83 x 60 cm / 103 x 80.5 cm with a magnificent antique gilded wood frame.
