Gilded Bronze Empire-style Inkwell
An elegant inkwell from the Empire period, dating from the early 19th century, consisting of a rectangular box with inlaid decoration, resting on small bronze feet. It features beautiful chiseled and gilded bronze trim, adorned with plant motifs and decorative friezes characteristic of the Empire style.
The ensemble is topped by two cut crystal vessels, mounted in ornate gilded bronze settings, framing a central element adorned with an antique-style female bust. Two small bronze accessories harmoniously complete this composition.
The elegantly shaped bronze front handle emphasizes the refinement of this desk accessory. The combination of crystal, gilded bronze, and marquetry reflects the taste for precious objects and neoclassical ornamentation during the First Empire.
