Carlo X Console – Naples

An important early 19th-century Neapolitan Charles X console table, characterized by an elegant architectural design and refined cabinetmaking. The piece features a fine mahogany veneer, embellished with thin maple fillets that outline the profiles and panels, creating a sophisticated color contrast with the deep, warm tones of the wood.
The top is crowned by a slab of green Levanto marble, whose intense veining lends further prestige and grandeur to the piece as a whole. Of particular interest are the supports, skillfully carved and articulated into elegant interlaced volute motifs, flanked by fluted column elements with classically inspired capitals. The bases, embellished with plant-inspired carvings and geometric moldings, rest on shaped feet that emphasize the piece’s solidity and monumental character.
The balance of proportions, the richness of the materials, and the interplay between neoclassical architectural elements and ornamental motifs in the Charles X style make this console table a piece of remarkable visual impact—an expression of refined Neapolitan craftsmanship from the first half of the 19th century, ideal for enhancing reception rooms and prestigious residences.
