Precious Charles X Openwork Chambermaid's Dress With Two Patinas: Rose And Butterfly
Rare Charles X Pierced Chamberstick with Dual Patina, Rose and Butterfly Motif
Dimensions: 12 × 11 × 6 cm; weight: 400 g.
Charming romantic hand-held chamberstick in finely chased, pierced bronze with gilt and dark patinated finishes, designed as a rosebud visited by a butterfly. The decoration is delicately executed and enhanced by the elegant contrast between the gilding and the darker patina.
Dating from the Romantic period during the reign of Charles X, this delightful piece displays excellent craftsmanship and refinement.
In good condition overall. The original gilding and dark patina remain well preserved. Please note that the threaded fitting of the rose is worn and no longer holds as securely as originally intended.
French work, circa 1830, probably one of the refined luxury gift items sold in the fashionable galleries of the Palais-Royal in Paris
