First Half Of The 19th Century Pair Of Barbedienne-style Bronze Vases
Refined and unique pair of bronze vases, created using
the lost-wax casting technique and featuring a fine gilt finish. Designed after
ancient oil lamps, the vases rest on elegant, square-shaped bases made of
French red marble. They take the form of an amphora, with handles sculpted as
coiled serpents that wrap around the rim. The bodies of the vases depict
classical scenes, separated by male caryatids, showing figures performing
libations at an altar and carrying food, accompanied by musicians. This pair
exudes great elegance and sophistication, lending a touch of class and an air
of antiquity to any setting. French manufacture, in the style of Barbedienne,
dating to the first half of the 19th century.
