Marble Sculpture By Paul Baeteman

Marble sculpture by Paul Baeteman
Abstract artwork with a tiered base, crafted from solid veined marble
The undulating, organic forms of the white marble contrast beautifully with the geometric, minimalist, multi-tiered base, in pink and black marble, a characteristic feature of Baeteman’s late-period modernist and abstract work
The white marble is arranged at an angle on the base, creating a different optical effect depending on the viewer’s perspective
High-quality marbles were used: Carrara marble, Rosa Portugal marble, and Nero Marquina marble
Signed on the underside of the white marble
Black base: 13 cm deep and wide, 2 cm high
Pink base: 11 cm on three sides and 3 cm high
The sculpture measures 13 cm deep and wide, with a total height of 27 cm
Total weight: 3.7 kg
Paul Baeteman (1933–2022) was renowned for combining undulating lines and organic forms with the pure texture of natural stone
