Modern Painting Attilio Rossi Milky Way Oil On Canvas 1992

Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. On the reverse, a label from the Ponte Art Gallery bearing the title and date of the work.
From the Campari corporate collection.
The artistic career of Attilio Rossi—who was also an important graphic artist and cultural promoter—spanned from abstract art to hyperrealism, eventually placing him at the forefront of the most advanced figurative art.
In the final period of his artistic career—to which the work presented here belongs—his docks, still lifes, and self-portraits gave way to a major cycle of metaphysical painting, as in this work, in which the Milky Way crosses the picture plane horizontally, entering an architectural structure where a still life featuring pomegranates stands out, thus becoming a concrete and tangible part of everyday life.
Work presented in a frame.
