The Holy Family Antique Painting Oil On Panel XVI-xvii Century Original
Oil on panel.
The scene depicts the Holy Family, likely during their flight into Egypt, taking a rest during their journey; in fact, in addition to the figures of the family, an angel appears at the bottom—recognizable by his faintly suggested wings—holding out a plate of food, from which Joseph has already taken some cherries, as recounted in the apocryphal versions of the Gospels.
The panel has a few small woodworm holes.
It is set in an early 20th-century frame.
