Voltaire Armchair In Walnut With Reclining Back And Footstool, 19th Century
Voltaire armchair in moulded walnut, with a high enveloping back. The back reclines thanks to an iron ratchet mechanism under the seat; the mechanism works. Padded armrests ending in carved scrolls, cabriole front legs, sabre back legs, on castors. Upholstery entirely redone about twenty years ago in red velvet with braid and gilt nails. Sold with its matching footstool.
