Maison Jansen – Gold-plated Metal Palm Tree Lamp – 1970
Artist: Jean Mulders
A decorative palm-shaped table lamp, consisting of a central shaft reminiscent of a bamboo trunk, topped with lush foliage made of cut metal with a gold patina. The openwork, finely chiseled leaves create a sculptural effect characteristic of Hollywood Regency-style pieces and decorative creations attributed to Maison Jansen in the 1960s and 1970s. The quadrangular base, made of patinated metal, completes the piece and highlights the lamp’s exotic silhouette. A decorative object representative of the taste for naturalistic forms and tropical influences that shaped interior design in the second half of the 20th century.
