Jacques Au Béret, A Bronze Sculpture By André Abbal
Artist: André Abbal (1876-1953)
A charming sculpture by André Abbal depicting his son Jacques, aged 3, wearing a beret.
Bronze with a midnight blue (dark) patina, signed with the artist’s monogram, numbered 8/8, and bearing the stamp of the Coubertin foundry.
This bronze was cast from a stone sculpture from the Abbal Museum dating from 1929, under the supervision of the artist’s daughter in the 1990s.
This sculpture was not cast in bronze during the artist’s lifetime; it was his daughter who commissioned these bronze casts to finance the renovation of the museum (the artist’s former studio).
The sculpture is in very good condition with a beautiful dark patina; it is on display at the gallery.
