Anti-napoleon Propaganda Scarf Dating From 1813
A rare anti-Napoleonic propaganda scarf printed in England around 1813, a few months after the disaster of the Russian Campaign.
A similar example is on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The central scene depicts the Emperor being pursued by Russian, Prussian, and Swedish soldiers. The vignettes around the edges satirically illustrate various episodes from Napoleon’s career. For example, the return from the Egyptian campaign is portrayed as the Emperor’s flight, betraying his soldiers.
