Bronze Sculpture - Bagpipe Satyr - Mihai Onofrei
Artist: Mihai Onofrei
Vigorous bronze sculpture by sculptor Mihai Onofrei (1896-1980), signed "M. ONOFREI" in capital letters on the rock base. The work depicts with great expressive force a subject from classical mythology: a satyr characterized by small horns, pointed ears and goat legs that blend naturally with the rock. The character is intent on playing a bagpipe, captured in a dynamic and sinuous pose that enhances the plasticity and vigor of the fusion. Expressionist modeling, typical of the first half of the 20th century, leaves surfaces harsh and vibrant, creating a fascinating play of chiaroscuro accentuated by the beautiful patina of the period. An easel work of excellent artistic and decorative impact. Height: 31 cm
