Large Belle époque Opaline Box Or Candy Jar – Cupid Design, Signed Thy
Large Art Nouveau-style powder box or candy jar made of white opaline (milky glass) dating from the Belle Époque (circa 1900), measuring 15 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height.
The lid is adorned with a mythological scene signed “THY” depicting Cupid and a pensive nymph, entirely hand-painted and hand-enameled.
The rim of the base is decorated with motifs from ancient music (a lyre and Pan’s flute) set amid floral garlands.
