Daum Nancy French Art Nouveau Cameo And Enameled Glass Violet Bonbonnière, Circa 1900
Artist: Daum Nancy Croix De Lorraine
Daum Nancy French Art Nouveau Cameo and Enameled Glass Violet Bonbonnière, circa 1900
An exquisite and highly collectible French Art Nouveau covered box (bonbonnière) crafted by the renowned glassworks Daum Nancy. Featuring a softly rounded circular form, the box is made of multi-layered acid-etched glass on an opalescent, frosted white ground subtly transitioning to a deep royal blue towards the base.
The lid and lower body are delicately hand-painted with realistic blooming violets (pensées / violettes) in shades of purple and mauve, highlighted with fine green foliage and delicate gilded details. A quintessential example of the naturalistic botanicals celebrated by the École de Nancy, displaying remarkable craftsmanship and ethereal colors.
Signed "Daum ☨ Nancy" with the Cross of Lorraine on the body of the box
Circa 1900–1910
Art Nouveau Style (École de Nancy)
Acid-etched cameo glass
Good antique condition. The glass itself has no chips, cracks, or restorations. Please note some natural, his-toric surface patina/staining on the edge of the lid (consistent with 120+ years of age and gentle usage, visible in photos), which adds to its authenticity. (Contact us for any close-up requests).
