A superb and spectacular oil lamp from the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century), forming a grand table lamp with a remarkable total height of 82 cm.
This exquisitely crafted piece of decorative art brings together three areas of excellence in French artisanal craftsmanship:
The Porcelain Body: A baluster vase in glazed porcelain in a deep cobalt blue—Sèvres blue
Integral Gilded Bronze Mountings: All decorative and structural mountings—from top to bottom—are entirely made of finely chiseled gilded bronze:
The neck, ring, and reservoir support are crafted from gilded bronze featuring godrons and stylized leaves.
Two large side handles in high relief, made of gilded bronze, adorned with rocaille scrolls and acanthus foliage tendrils encircling the porcelain.
A beaded base ring and a large, multi-lobed gilded bronze pedestal with an openwork frieze featuring cross-hatch patterns.
The Baccarat Crystal Reservoir: Upper reservoir in clear crystal, cut with flat, fluted sides, attributed to the great French art crystal manufacturers of Baccarat
Complete gilded metal burner with its original wheel-turn mechanism.
