Rare Paperweight In The Poillerat Style, Circa 1930

Description:

Wrought iron, black patina and gold gilding, handmade paper.

It is very rare to find small, handheld objects made of wrought iron;Poillerat, for example, created almost exclusively furniture or large decorative objects.

This paperweight consists of a plate with guilloché-patterned edges .

It features a handle in two symmetrical parts.

Each handle is openwork at the bottom, with the openings adorned withraised balls of decreasing size.

Aspiral with several coils forms the upper part of the handles.

This object is a blacksmith’s masterpiece.

Conditions:

Good conditions; lacquer and 24-karat gold leaf gilding have been restored.

The entire piece has been re-patinated.

Dimensions:

Base : 20.8 cm x 5.2 cm x 0.9 cm.

Height:10.3 cm.

(no metric measurements, as is typical for objects from the Ancien Régime).
