Pair Of “5470” Armchairs By Gelderland, Tubular Steel, Netherlands, Circa 1989
Pair of “5470” armchairs by Jan de Bouvrie for Gelderland, made of tubular steel, Netherlands, circa 1990.
The Lotus 5470 armchair was designed in 1989 by Jan de Bouvrie for Gelderland and has since become a timeless classic of modern Bauhaus style. The designer drew inspiration for this piece from the rear of his favorite car, the Porsche 911.
Chrome-plated steel tubes, black-painted wood, and new upholstery fabric.
This pair has been fully restored: for the seat cushions, we selected the high-end “Origami Rockets” upholstery fabric in cream and black, created by the British design duo Eley Kishimoto (ROMO Group). The steel tube frame has been polished, and the armrests have been treated with black hard wax oil. This has further enhanced the elegance of these armchairs, making them one-of-a-kind pieces that are sure to be the center of attention in any interior.
1990s model. Comes with the manufacturer’s certificate of authenticity.
