"macao" Crystal And Wrought-iron Saddle By André Dubreuil, Crafted By Daum
Artist: André Dubreuil
André DUBREUIL, born in Lyon in 1951, died in 2022. A renowned French designer, known for his innovative creations in furniture and objets d’art, and nicknamed the “poet of iron,” he left his mark on the world of furniture with his baroque, poetic, and radically anti-functionalist designs.
“Macao” is an iconic piece born from a collaboration in the early 1990s between French designer André Dubreuil and the prestigious Daum crystal glassworks. A large blue crystal vase with a wrought-iron frame featuring a dark patina, resting on a tripod pedestal also made of wrought iron and adorned with large blue crystal cabochons.
This creation perfectly illustrates Dubreuil’s baroque and poetic style. It highlights the raw yet elegant contrast between handcrafted iron and the colorful transparency of Daum crystal.
This piece is signed and numbered on the base of the vase (6/75 Daum France) and on the pedestal (Daum France).
