Two Turned Wooden Display Stands, Pieces From The Journeyman's Or Master's Level.
Remarkable woodturning work on these 19th-century wooden display bowls; beneath one of the bowls is a date, 1896, and a signature difficult to decipher... Jean... The work of a journeyman or master craftsman. The top forms a bowl-like shape, with a geometric design alternating the orange hue of maple with the dark color of blackened walnut. Part of the base is made of ebony and other parts of rosewood. Disassembly is achieved using small, finely inserted wedges.
