Printed canvas in a "tapestry" style signed André Minaux numbered 35/200 Sous-Bois, Maison Braun edition. Canvas lined and mounted with hanging rings. Work from the 1960s. André Minaux, (1823-1986) French painter, illustrator, engraver trained at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, student of Maurice Brianchon and Roland Oudot, won the Prix de la Critique in 1949, participated in numerous exhibitions, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris bought a canvas in 1950 and the Tate Gallery in 1953. His work is represented in many museums in France and abroad. Éditions Braun was founded in 1847 by Adolphe Braun, a photographer who obtained exclusive rights to reproduce works of art from numerous museums, including the Louvre. Maison Braun diversified by working on several media. In the 1960s, it established a collaboration with several artists and produced numbered editions of canvases printed in a "tapestry" style. The historic workshops of Maison Braun, located in Mulhouse, were closed at the end of the 1960s.
