A remarkable depiction of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in majesty, from the famous religious sculpture workshop El Arte Cristiano in Olot, whose mark appears in relief on the back of the sculpture. Founded in 1880, this workshop is a historic pillar of Olot’s religious sculptural tradition, renowned for the quality of its sculptures, the meticulousness of its polychromy, and the richness of its ornamental finishes.

Christ is seated on a Baroque-inspired throne, richly adorned with scrollwork and gilded floral motifs. Dressed in an ivory tunic and a red cloak with delicate gilded decorations, he raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing and holds in his left hand the globe surmounted by a cross, a symbol of his universal sovereignty. The Sacred Heart, depicted on his chest, and the golden halo framing his head complete a composition of great iconographic richness. Of particular note are the serene expression on his face, the rendering of the drapery, and the chromatic contrast between the gilding on the throne, the red of his garments, and the green-marbled base.

The sculpture is accompanied by a freestanding wall console, adorned with relief plant motifs and a gilded finish, which allows the ensemble to be displayed at a height that lends it a striking sculptural and architectural presence.
