Flat-top Louis XVI-style Desk

Louis XVI-style mahogany and brass flat-front desk (all sides), early 20th century

Elegant mid-20th-century Louis XVI-style flat-front desk (all sides) in mahogany and mahogany veneer (likely crafted in the Faubourg St. Antoine district). The front features four drawers arranged in compartments around a large central drawer and a space for the legs. The drawers and side panels are beautifully accented by inlaid brass moldings, typical of high-quality craftsmanship from this period. The piece rests on four legs topping with brass feet. This desk is unique in that it features two original sliding side extensions, allowing the work surface to be significantly expanded. Designed to be “all-around,” the back side is meticulously finished and mirrors the front panel’s design, allowing this piece to be placed freely in the center of a room

• The frame is in very good condition; the wood and brass are well-preserved. The leather on the central tabletop shows signs of use and significant wear. Comes with a key
