Large Capodimonte Porcelain Soup Tureen With Lid – Putti Relief Decoration – 52 Cm

A magnificent and imposing lidded soup tureen in polychrome porcelain, produced in Italy by Capodimonte, featuring a rich decoration of relief figures and gilding.

This spectacular piece stands out for its generous proportions, its particularly intricate decoration, and the richness of its polychrome colors.

The body of the tureen features a mythological and romantic scene in high relief, brought to life by figures, putti, and cupids moving through a landscape of trees and flowers.

The finely modeled figures have delicate skin tones and brightly colored drapery—particularly in shades of pink and green—which contrast elegantly with the sky-blue background.

The entire piece is embellished with numerous rocaille scrollwork motifs in relief, accented with gilding, set against a superb purplish-red background featuring a reticulated pattern imitating crackle glaze.

The two large side handles, adorned with gilded volutes, are each accompanied by a small cupid sculpted in the round.

The domed lid echoes this rich ornamentation, featuring a scene of polychrome putti in relief and an upper handle formed by an elegant rocaille scroll.

The soup tureen rests on a molded pedestal, also decorated with foliage, volutes, and gilded highlights.

A piece of great presence and exceptional decorative beauty, drawn from the grand traditions of Italian Baroque and Rococo porcelain.
