Vincent Canino (1892–1978)
Artist: Vincenzo Canino (1892-1978)
Oil on panel depicting a row of houses with a peasant woman, signed in the lower right corner. Vincenzo Canino, born in Naples on July 2, 1892, was a self-taught painter of landscapes and still lifes. Canino was part of a group of painters who followed in the footsteps of the masters of the Posillipo School; they devoted themselves to plein air painting, roaming the countryside or the coast in search of vistas, views, houses, and small churches that have since disappeared or become unrecognizable.
