Rene Lalique Sanglier Wild Boar Car Mascot 1157. Signed R Lalique Circa 1929
René Lalique ‘Sanglier’ (Wild Boar) Car Mascot, Model No. 1157, Signed ‘R. Lalique’, France, Circa 1929
An original René Lalique frosted and clear glass ‘Sanglier’ (Wild Boar) car mascot, model no. 1157, designed and introduced in 1929.
Beautifully sculpted in Lalique’s distinctive Art Deco style, the powerful wild boar is shown with its head lowered, pronounced ridged mane, and finely moulded textured coat. The figure is mounted on its original integral circular base and is wheel-engraved to the underside ‘R. Lalique France’, together with the model number 1157.
Originally produced as an automobile mascot during the golden age of motoring, the Sanglier is among René Lalique’s most sought-after mascot designs, admired for its bold modelling and exceptional craftsmanship. It remains equally impressive as a standalone sculpture or as part of a serious Lalique or automobilia collection.
