Pairs Of Antique Pillowcases - M-m Monogram Embellished With Polka Dots And Scalloped Edges - Late 19th Century

A pair of stunning linen pillowcases, delicately monogrammed with the initials M-M. These pieces, typical of the trousseaus in vogue toward the end of the 19th century, are entirely hand-sewn and hand-embroidered and showcase beautiful craftsmanship and fabric quality. The fabric is fluid, and the white embroidery, executed with precision, has a beautiful three-dimensional effect. A scalloped ruffle adds a refined finish to all four sides. On the back, a row of small mother-of-pearl buttons allows each pillowcase to be closed—a closure that is as discreet as it is effective. Antique linens, off-white with a slight grayish tint, washed and ironed.

Condition: The set is in very good overall condition. Only two very slight and discreet grayish tints are noticeable on the reverse side of one pillowcase (see photos).
