A zoomorphic ceremonial ewer made of opalescent Murano glass, circa 1900.  The central vessel depicts a stylized fish or sea monster, hot-sculpted, resting on a scalloped collar of blue glass and a flared circular pedestal decorated with subtle twisted patterns. The slender handle consists of a drawn opalescent glass stem forming the sinuous body of a dragon or sea serpent, accented along its entire length by a serrated crest of ultramarine blue glass.
In addition to its highly decorative appearance, this piece showcases the skill of Italian glass artisans and can be associated with the workshops of Fratelli Toso or Antonio Salviati.
