Vegetable Tureen And Stand, "terre d'Eclance" / "charenton" Pattern. Art Nouveau.
"Terre d'Eclance" / "Charenton" vegetable tureen with its underplate.
An Art Nouveau piece, produced around 1900.
An exceptional item in very good condition regarding both the gilding and the enamel;
only a single small chip on the rim of the tureen itself is worth noting.
Also of note are two small gilded flowers featured on both the underplate and the lid.
Dimensions:
Underplate diameter 27.3 cm;
Tureen height (including handle) 15.5 cm, length 31 cm, diameter 23 cm.
The stamp was used from 1900 onwards to identify art pieces—primarily vases and pitchers—produced by the *Grès d'Art* (art stoneware) manufactory. This tureen is a rare find. The town of Eclance supplied excellent clay for production, while the company itself was located in Charenton-le-Pont. The business closed in 1924, having originated as an earlier entity in 1821; the manufactory was already highly prosperous by 1837.
