A charming Victorian ruby and old-cut diamond five-stone half-hoop ring, crafted in 9-carat yellow gold and retaining the character and craftsmanship associated with late 19th-century English jewellery.

The ring is arranged in the traditional alternating five-stone formation, centred by an old-cut diamond weighing approximately 0.40 carat, flanked by two oval-cut rubies and terminating with a smaller old-cut diamond at either end.

The two natural rubies measure approximately 4 x 3 mm and are estimated to weigh 0.25 carat each, giving an approximate combined ruby weight of 0.50 carat.

The three old-cut diamonds have an estimated combined weight of 0.75 carat. The central diamond is approximately 0.40 carat, with the two outer diamonds estimated at approximately 0.175 carat each. They are assessed as approximately SI2 clarity and I/J colour.

All five stones are held within attractive shared claw settings, while the underside reveals a particularly appealing open carved scroll gallery, characteristic of Victorian five-stone rings.

The substantial yellow-gold shank bears an incised “RM” maker’s mark together with a partial hallmark incorporating the 375 gold fineness mark.
