Period Mahogany Architect's Desk With A Mechanical Mechanism, Directoire Style, Late 18th Century
Mahogany folding architect's desk – Directoire period – Late 18th century
A very beautiful architect’s desk with a mechanical mechanism, made of mahogany and flamed mahogany veneer, from the Directoire period, late 18th century, in the Louis XVI style.
This desk features elegant, understated, and refined lines characteristic of Directoire furniture, with magnificent mahogany grain and fine cabinetmaking.
It features a lift-up and tilting top that forms a writing desk, upholstered in black leather with a gilded frame.
Two side pull-out panels, also upholstered in leather, allow the work surface to be significantly expanded.
On the front, a large lockable drawer reveals a fitted workspace, complete with a writing surface and storage compartments.
The piece rests on four straight, slightly tapered legs, finished with brass feet and original casters (to be confirmed).
