Louis-Alexandre Bouché was born on January 10, 1838, in Luzancy.
He was a student of Camille Corot, whom he painted in 1860.
Winner of the Rosa Bonheur Prize in 1901. Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1905.
At the age of ten, he worked in a tile factory in his hometown; at fifteen, he was hired at a workshop in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre where millstones were manufactured. Louis-Alexandre Bouché devoted his free time to drawing; Louis-Jean-Marie Rémy gave him his first lessons and arranged the fateful meeting between his student and Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot. Corot advised him to go to Paris. Louis-Alexandre Bouché worked there for a while, then traveled throughout France before going to Italy. He painted landscapes, sometimes featuring animals, views of the banks of the Marne, and portraits. Hisart is characterized by a keen attention to light, shifting atmospheres, and subtle colors
