Two-section Louis XV Sideboard With A "gendarme's Cap" Top

A very elegant Louis XV-style two-piece sideboard, crafted from walnut and richly carved and ornate.

The upper section opens with two doors, adorned with rocaille decorations and plant motifs.

This “gendarme’s hat” model is embellished with a garland of foliage and a floral basket motif carved in its center.

The interior of the upper section features four storage levels, with antique shelves. The lower section opens with two drawers in the upper part, followed by two molded and carved doors, with a pull-out breadboard beneath the top.

The entire piece is richly decorated with foliage, scrolls, and rocaille motifs, featuring beautiful carved ornamentation running along the lower crossbar.

The interiors are meticulously finished and varnished; the patina is achieved using beeswax. The doors are mounted with lacing pins.

The fronts feature very attractive molding and carving, accentuated by a warm walnut patina. The curved stiles and legs emphasize the dynamic silhouette characteristic of Louis XV furniture.

This sideboard is of high quality, thanks to the finesse of the craftsmanship and its excellent condition.

No major restoration was necessary—just a thorough cleaning and refinishing.
