July Monarchy Louis Philippe Pewter Pitcher.

This pewter pitcher from the first half of the 19th century features a bas-relief depicting the French rooster of the July Monarchy, dated 1832. The inscription "1832", engraved on a sphere or globe firmly clutched by the rooster’s claw, marks a pivotal period in the July Monarchy, marked by the assertion of republican and national symbols during the reign of Louis-Philippe I, who had reinstated the Gallic rooster as the official emblem on the flags and uniform buttons of the National Guard as early as 1830.
On period objects, oak and laurel leaves traditionally symbolize strength, longevity, and civic virtue.
Height 26 cm, base diameter 14 cm. This generous size allowed it to hold a substantial amount of liquid (often wine or cider) while masterfully showcasing the bas-relief carving of the republican rooster.
In good condition with signs of use.
