Louis XVI-style Desk Made Of Mahogany And Mahogany Veneer, 19th Century
The upper section consists of two glass-paned doors opening onto a storage space and topped by a white marble top edged with an openwork brass molding. The side panels are adorned with vertical fluting.
The cylinder features a veneer with pronounced grain. When opened, it reveals an interior fitted with small drawers and compartments, as well as a drop-down panel serving as a writing desk, lined with an antique dark upholstery. The base section includes three drawers.
The piece rests on four tapered legs, finished with brass feet. The lock plates, handles, and trim elements are also made of brass.
The desk is preserved in its original condition, with signs of use, scratches, wear on the finish, and visible marks consistent with its age. The lining of the writing surface is marked. The photographs also show a few repairs or minor imperfections in the veneer and molding.
