Gisèle Ferrandier de Laprade, 1909–2000, a French painter born in Paris on September 16, 1909. She was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She began in a classical style as early as 1925, evolving from Cubism to Abstraction via a “Poetic Reality,” always in flamboyant tones. She exhibited in Paris as early as 1935 at the Salons des Tuileries and the Salon des Femmes Peintres et Sculpteurs, as well as in Geneva and Lyon. In 1938, she married the journalist Richard de Laprade. She traveled to North Africa and settled for a time in Algiers, where she exhibited her work. A retrospective was held at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris in 1970. She died in Pau on January 27, 2000. Her works are held in the museums of Biarritz, Bordeaux, and Marseille.
