Great 19th-century Portrait Signed By Francesco Vinea

An important Italian painting from the second half of the 19thcentury. This monumental oil-on-canvas work is signed "F. Vinea"at the bottom left and is attributable to the renowned Italianpainter Francesco Vinea (1845–1902), an artist highly acclaimed forhis elegant period-costume scenes.

The painting depicts a lady and a gentleman in full-length poses,accompanied by a magnificent greyhound on a grand terrace. The youngwoman, her smiling face framed by soft curls, wears a luminous ivorygown with voluminous sleeves and a refined lace collar, paired with along blue over-garment embellished with gold trim. Beside her, thegentleman strikes a proud yet relaxed pose, one hand resting on hiship and his sword prominently displayed.

The flesh tones are modeled through delicate tonal transitions;the woman’s smile and the gentleman’s steadier gaze lend distinctpersonalities to the figures, making the composition lively andengaging.
