Pair Of “queen Anne” Flintlock Pistols With Silver Mounts, Joseph Clarkson, London, Ca. 1730.
Artist: Clarkson - Londres
Smoothbore, screw-off (“turn-off”) barrels; breeches marked “CLARKSON” and “LONDON” and stamped with three marks from the London Proof House. Flintlock frames. Longitudinally movable hammers that act as a safety: when in the forward position, they lock the trigger and prevent both firing and loading; a button at their front end allows them to be unlocked and moved backward. Stocks with silver inlays, chiseled and engraved. Beautiful caps featuring grotesque masks in relief.
The silver and wood are in very good condition. Slight pitting on the barrels and firing plates. Mechanisms in perfect condition. Length: 30.5 cm.
