Officer's sword from the First Empire.
Gilded bronze mount with a joint arch attached to the pommel's bust by two curved acanthus leaves and featuring a depiction of the god Mars in the central medallion.
Curved, oval, half-moon-shaped guard and a smaller counter-guard.
The guard is decorated with the god Mars seated on a ram and trophies of arms consisting of cannons, ensigns, etc....
Stock with a smooth mother-of-pearl plate.
Pommel featuring a plumed helmet, viewed from the front, with a horizontal grille.
Triangular-section blade decorated with military trophies, unblued, bearing the hallmark “A & K” at the heel—standing for A. KNECHT (active during the Consulate and the First Empire; died 1815 —The hallmark changed to “AK & F,” standing for A. Knecht and Son, in 1815 by his widow.)
Without scabbard.
