“scacco Matto” Modular Sofa – Roberto Pamio For Arflex – 1982
An important vintage modular sofa, the “Scacco Matto” model, designed by Roberto Pamio (sometimes credited jointly with Renato Toso) for Arflex, 1982.
Characterized by the distinctive geometric arrangement of its upholstered sections, which creates the signature “checkerboard” effect, the sofa features a low, enveloping frame, emblematic of 1980s Italian design.
Light-colored fabric upholstery, modular structure, and dark base. A model with a strong visual presence, ideal for both contemporary settings and collections dedicated to 20th-century Italian design.
