Henri Le Sidaner. The Pensive Young Man.
Artist: Henri Le Sidaner ( 1862-1939)
This study of a young man dates from the period when the artist was working in Étaples. It is likely a depiction of a young sailor from Étaples—a village primarily inhabited by fishermen that attracted numerous artists from various countries. This work was a gift from Le Sidaner to the sculptor Édouard Lormier and has passed down through the family. We thank Mr. Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner for confirming the attribution. In its original frame: 31.5 x 23 cm.
