Gilded Bronze Mantelpiece – Decorated With Scrollwork And Acanthus Leaves – Louis XV Style

A striking and elegant antique gilded bronze mantelpiece, featuring a rich decoration of scrollwork, volutes, and large acanthus leaves.

The composition is perfectly symmetrical, with two tall, openwork, and dynamically shaped side posts, adorned with abundant rocaille-style plant motifs.

They are joined by a long bronze crossbar, punctuated at its center by a prominent foliage motif in relief.

The base is accented by a decorative frieze alternating between oval motifs and stylized elements.

The bronze retains a beautiful antique golden patina, with some visible traces of oxidation and wear, particularly on the reverse, consistent with its age.

The reverse features its original metal mounting brackets.

A very beautiful decorative piece, particularly elegant when placed in front of an antique stone or marble fireplace.
