A Baroque-style Ceremonial Cabinet (maria Theresa Period) Worthy Of A Museum
Baroque ceremonial cabinet, Salzburg, circa 1700–1710.
Walnut, burl walnut, and various fruitwoods; fine marquetry featuring stylized floral and foliage motifs, scrollwork (bandelwerk), fillets, and ornamental friezes. Chiseled-side body topped by a straight cornice with multiple projections; rests on a molded (grooved) base with two drawers and flattened ball feet. Front with an architectural structure featuring two doors and a projecting trim molding. Gilded bronze hardware and handles. Iron lock.
Carefully restored to preserve the original patina; finished with buffed varnish (shellac).
