Exceptional Baroque Chest Of Drawers, Circa 1750–1760
A Baroque chest of drawers of exceptional magnificence, Germany, circa 1750–1760.
The body features four drawers resting on four flattened ball feet. The top, sides, and front are adorned with marquetry of great finesse. The drawer fronts feature curved lines alternating between concave and convex sections, adorned with rich foliage motifs (“Bandelwerk” style) and original bronze fittings topped with crowns. The top is embellished with a marquetry coat of arms, likely that of the “von Freyberg” family (Swabia). The frame is made of softwood and veneered with walnut, burl walnut, and fruitwood.
A rare piece due to its form and craftsmanship.
