Velvet Sofa With Art Nouveau Trimmings, 20th Century

- Art Nouveau-style velvet sofa with period trimmings, dating from the early 20th century.

- This comfortable three-seater sofa features bolster-style armrests. It is upholstered in its original fabric, a red and yellow velvet featuring stylized plant and floral motifs that directly reflect the Art Nouveau style of the period when this sofa was made. The beige-yellow velvet on the waistband was replaced at a later date. A sun-pleat on the visible side of the armrests and generous trim around the edges (modified later) further enhance the sofa’s highly decorative character. 

- This is a convertible sofa, as the backrest and armrests are removable. The front legs have casters.

- A second sofa offered by the Gallery can be paired with this one (similar dimensions, shapes, patterns, and colors).

- Good condition. There is some wear and missing fabric on the upholstery and trim (see photos).
