Robj Paris – Art Deco “bagpiper” Liqueur Bottle In Polychrome Porcelain, Ver
Anthropomorphic liqueur bottle made of polychrome glazed porcelain, produced by ROBJ Paris, circa 1930.
It humorously depicts a bagpiper dressed in a stylized, Scottish-inspired costume. The figure wears a loose-fitting white plaid with a red-orange checkered pattern, contrasting with the glossy black of the jacket and cap, as well as with a few touches of yellow.
The bagpipes, rendered in light brown tones, occupy the center of the composition and accentuate the graphic and deliberately caricatured nature of this design, which perfectly embodies the Art Deco aesthetic developed by ROBJ.
The character’s cap serves as the bottle’s removable stopper and retains its cork.
Marked on the base:
“Robj – Paris – Made in France”.
French work from the 1920s–1930s.
A very beautiful decorative object characteristic of the humorous and modernist creations of ROBJ, a company particularly well-known during the interwar period for its figurative porcelain vials and bottles.
