A bacchante with a tambourine seems to lead the scene, Bacchus supporting her with a glass in his hand and the dancing putti with cymbals. Very beautiful expression of the protagonists.

Pierre Alexandre Schoenwerk (1820-1885): Protected and encouraged by Princess Mathilde, he enjoyed great success under the Second Empire before sinking into madness and killing himself. A pupil of David d'Angers, he remained very influenced by Italy and classical antiquity and produced numerous busts and statues, contributing to the decoration of the Louvre, the Tuileries, the Hôtel de Ville, the Opera.....
