Description:

An elegant and expressive pair of Dionysian bronze sculptures, “Bacchus and the Bacchantes,” by the renowned Italian sculptor Alberto Bazzoni.

The female figure (the Bacchante) displays a dynamic twist of the body on a rectangular base as she dances while holding a cymbal. The male figure (Satyr/Companion of Bacchus), standing on a circular base, displays a vigorous arching of the torso as he drinks and holds up clusters of ripe grapes. Both sculptures express extraordinary sculptural energy and a sense of vitality typical of the synthesis between classical tradition and 20th-century modernity.
